All the stories have been presented in the first person’s point of view. Notably, the personas tell the stories as a way of expressing their personal views about their feelings. The point of commonality between all the stories is that the personas narrate a series of events and activities that happen after a major event. For instance, in Vacation '58 by John Hughes, after Walt Disney is shot, the feelings of the narrator changes and everything within the setting changes too. From all the stories, the audience or the readers are gets to know the feelings of the persona. Apart from that, the narrators tell the stories based on their own way of thinking. In the Letters to Einstein by Phillip Roth, the narrator expresses himself to various people about his thinking on issues that he considers vital and disturbing. The impacts of the stories are important to the narrators in such a way that it not only affects their feelings, but also their activities as planned.
The unreliability of information of the first person point of view as presented by different narrators in the four stories confirms that the narrators do not understand or have no influence on the way a series of things are unfolding and that is why they are allowing their emotions to control their thinking. Apart from that, the audience cannot know beyond the thinking of the narrator and despite the humorous nature of the stories, sometimes the audience is trapped in the feelings of the narrators, making them to join in the humor. Within the stories, the narrators have involved the audience by asking rhetoric questions, or open questions that do not need any answers.
