Introduction

The most normally accepted meaning of bullying is being a form of senseless and violent actions that entails actual or apparent one-sidedness of power, and is either recurring or has the possibility to be repeated eventually.
Everyone can be involved in bullying. One can be the perpetrator, bystander or target. Bullying is ordinary among children and teenagers and has been discovered to differ in several aspects such as gender, race and age. Bullying can also take place in school, workplace and neighborhood. The pervasiveness of bullying is mostly elevated throughout school transitions, at the time when students are structuring factions and creating collective hierarchies.
In general, verbal and physical bullying is more common among males, whereas relational or social bullying is more common among females. Bullying victimization differs among gender and race. According to reports, white students are more frequently the victims of bullying than racial minority students, while females are more frequently accounted to be the victims of bullying than males. Furthermore, difference from the traditional social norms also affects bullying victimization among students. Bullying victimization is high among students within 13 to 20 years old .
Although bullying is neither acceptable nor needed, this paper discusses the positive aspects of bullying. There are several researches regarding the positive effects of bullying that is tackled within the paper given the principles for bullying as deliberately malicious, unrelenting and consistent, and intended to achieve power.

Positive Effects of Bullying to the Bullies and the Targets

Before we discuss the positive effect of bullying, let us first mention some of the many negative effects of bullying. Bullying is a problem and is a noteworthy social and organizational distress. Bullying activities can influence a target’s sense to carry out his or her work and responsibilities. In a workplace, bullying can affect the financial feats of an association. In a research conducted by Fisher-Blando (2008), the study tackles the categories of ill-treatment of targets that are subjected to bullies and whether the targets received assistance from the business council to ease or end the violent bullying activities. The association between a bullying circumstances and a positive outcome has not been formerly examined and was a query of the study.
Now, we want to examine the positive effect of bullying to the bullies. The bullies who employ violence to protect their personal ends are usually popular, though they are not documented (Needham, 2003). Bullying regularly comes from abusers’ lack of confidence or even resentment of other workers. Bullies can be aggressive or passive-aggressive. They are seldom self-assured.
The assumption of aggressive communication tells us that assertiveness is a positive characteristic. Individual who possess the characteristic of assertiveness, the attribute is typically employed to attain individual ambitions while generating constructive feelings in others .
Successful bullying increases a person’s self respect. Constructive effects of bullying may comprise lifting self-worth from the bully circumstance, becoming more dynamic external the bullying milieu, or discovering a superior occupation .
Let’s move to the positive effect of bullying to targets. In cases of targets or the victims of bullying, they often show positive traits in their careers. Bullies typically do not torture everybody. Target selection is affected by the intensity of the target’s persona, the target’s struggle, the bully’s meagerness, the bully’s irregular sense of worth and the bully’s capability of bullying without being penalized. Being a target or a victim pivots on two traits: a longing to assist and a non-offensive private technique.
Targets have verified many positive qualities all the way through their professional careers, comprising proficiency, intellect, inventiveness, integrity, companionship, achievement, and commitment. Targets are typically individuals depicted as psychologically clever. In most circumstances, targets have discovered how to work things out; they study their personal actions and right them as they make mistakes. Targets are frequently soaring hard workers, which builds the bully feel derisory and envy.
Diverse observations depend on the association between participation in the bully-target dilemmas and wellbeing because circumstances are frequently extremely prejudiced and depend limply on chosen unreliable proofs. Although being bullied possibly will be distasteful at the occasion, the results on the health of the target can be by and large insignificant and not permanent. Being bullied can encompass a positive effect on a person’s health and welfare to the extent that it suggests a positive reaction to a momentary stressor and frequently has the result of building a targeted person to be more resilient .

Growth and Maturity

Various people have believed that bullying can educate life teachings and inspire strength. According to Helene Guldberg, the experience of a person in bullying can educate an individual in managing disagreements and improve their capacity to work together with other people. Some researchers have showed some possible encouraging results from bullying actions. Studies discovered that some individuals having been targeted with bullying actions have in fact practiced being "enabled" throughout their incident with maltreatment. They have built up different management approaches such as being brave and standing up for themselves. The target individuals have managed to balance the imbalance power. They became an improved individual because of their suffering in bullying. Learning and teaching the skills in handling the anti-bullying actions to other victims help a lot of targets to achieve a long term and effective method of adjustment that also reduce the number of bullying incidences .

Resiliency

Bullying is considered to be one of the most traumatic experiences of youth. Being able to stand up against classmate-enemies and bullies aid children to grow and mature according to psychologists. Teachers and friends tend to admire individuals who return schoolyard unfriendliness with kindness .
Bullying can definitely damage children which can also lead to anxiety and depression. But people who are not afraid to fight against the bullies can have advantages. The feelings of mutual dislike can actually improve and help a person’s emotional and social skills. These skills can eventually affect their friendship development. A research by Derbyshire (2010) in the University of California compared target victims who fought their aggressors with victims who did not. They are children with ages eleven and twelve. Results showed that children who returned aggression with opposition tend to be the most mature .
Males that fought against bullies are considered to be socially knowledgeable by their teachers. Females who did the similar things were more accepted and more popular to teachers. However, the study does not imply that it was fine to be the victimized by bullying. It implies that the negative circumstance of bullying can teach an individual about resolving conflicts. Bullying also give children a message that not every personthey will meet in life is going to like them. They can develop resistance against problems that can make them better people.

Positive Effect in Health

Young adults have shown lasting ill effects of having experienced bullying in their childhood. On the other hand, according to a Duke University research, led by William Copeland, available in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, people who performed the bullying may in fact be healthier than others in single imperative measure. The study led by William Copeland is according to the results of the longitudinal Great Smoky Mountains investigation. It began in the year 1993, and pursued by 1,420 children from North Carolina. The participants were inquired during their childhood and adolescent years from ages nine to twenty-one.
The study considered the  C-reactive protein (CRP) level in blood. The CRP is a biomarker of persistent swelling related to  metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular illness during youth, teenage years, and parenthood. CRP is a signal or indication of tension of the body. As the participants grow older, the CRP levels increased. Nevertheless, participants that experienced being the target of bullying possessed the maximum level of increase, while the former bullies possessed the minimum increase. The victims of bullying have the same level of increase as the participants who were not involved in bullying in any way. Due to this improved social category, the study deduced that there was a protective effect for the bullies.
The findings tell us that being bully can be something good in terms of the effect in CRP level in blood. However, it should not be interpreted that bullying should be practiced. There is also wide-range of studies that imply the bad, problematic and lasting effects of bullying. Bullies are more likely to be more violent as they grow. Copeland mentioned that the improved of bullies that he supposed might cause for their lesser CRP levels must be attained in more decently suitable behaviors such as sports .

Conclusion

Bullying is never pleasant. Bullying is defined to be a repeated and intentional violence or use of words to an individual or group of people to cause suffering and threat to their health. Bullying gives people trepidation, loneliness, and it reduces self merit. Some bullies became bullies because they have been bullied. Bullies often possess low self-esteem .
We do not consider bullying as a right or desired practice. People who have experienced bullying never wanted it; however, some may think that they have overcome these rough occasions in their lives. The experience in bullying has molded them to be more resilient and enthusiastic to establish that they are not the injured party. Those who look at bullying at this point of view feel that bullying has inspired a drive within them to attest the bullies’ mistakes and thrive in their life.
Looking at something positive, bullying also raise surprising efforts of compassion for the movements against it. Different organizations and campaigns emerge because of bullying. They all aspire to empower individuals and lessen bystanders and victims. Organizations motivate individuals and immerse them in support for kindheartedness.
Bullying can teach us to make the best out of an awful situation. It can strengthen an individual and promote resiliency. Although bullying is really horrible, it can instill a drive to do well and achieve something. It can also inspire victimized people to improve their personalities and prosper in their career to a more empowered living.
