Outcome
A collaborative initiative is a series of activities that are interrelated in most cases that leaders from various segments of the society design to solve various problems that the society faces. The issues in the society include the gun control. The collaborative strategies to end such issues have certain positive aspects.
First, the collaborative that the communities use gains access to resources. In order to develop a community partnership, certain resources need to be obtained. The resources include professional staff that are in most cases experienced and have knowledge about a wide range of issues. Once the collaborative has gained enough of the resources, then its implementation cannot be hampered in any way (Ojjp, 2004).
In most cases, the collaborative develops and implements a comprehensive vision and plan about how to tackle particular issues. In partnership, there are always people who majorly involve themselves in strategic planning in order to produce a plan that is comprehensive for solving the problem. A partnership having a vision can fasten the community’s togetherness in coming up with a solution to a particular problem. In order to have such visions, a comprehensive plan needs to put in place after having a series of various plans (Artigiani, 2001).
Another positive aspect of the collaborative is that it develops a leadership structure. A partnership that ends up productive, in most cases does not depend on the personal charisma, but it relies heavily on the leadership and management that is quality hence producing the best leadership team and structure. The team can thus be tasked with setting the vision and standards for the partnerships. Due to this, the partnership can successfully meet various challenges that it may face (ojjp, 2004).
In addition, the collaborative is involved in mobilizing and sustaining activities that reduce gun violence. This is through the partnership planning and implementing various strategies that are effective. Due to this, it is thus important to include those having control in the community well-being before the mobilization of residents in the areas affected. This will help identify the perpetrators and assist in bringing them to book (Artigiani, 2001).
In the initiative to maintain orderliness in the society, there are some partners who are less essential in the implementation of the strategy. Such partners include the criminals themselves, the minors and to a lesser extent the senior citizens in the society. To start, the perpetrators of the criminal activities are less essential in various ways. They cannot be relied upon to help alleviate the ills of the society. This is because the criminals in the drug and substance abuse and gun issues will always fight to protect their interests. They do not like the initiatives in the community that assist in bringing to an end their dealings. It is, therefore, hard to collaborate with them and hence deemed less essential (Ojjp, 2004).
Second, the minors in the society can also be said to be less essential. It is because most of them lack more insight into issues affecting the society such as gun control and drug and substance abuse. Basing on these, they have less to contribute towards the eradication of the ills of the society. In addition, the majority of them are school going children who should not even be subjected to such conversation. This is because they will want to know more about the issues and eventually try them out so that they feel the results. This renders them less useful.
The senior citizens are those people whose age in above 70. They have a lot of experience on the issues but cannot deliver due to circumstances such as lack of energy to do so. They can contribute accordingly but in most cases are unable. This makes them less essential in the struggle against the problems mentioned above in the community .
The criminal justice that could have enhanced the success of the initiative is the Violent Crime Task Force. It is a task force that was established to target the violent crimes and the criminals. It could have enhanced the success of the initiative because it deals with investigating crimes that mostly involve guns, violent career criminals, and other gangs or organizations that are violent and in most cases have an association with drugs and substance abuse. It could also have enhanced the strategy due to t the fact that it comprises 25 Federal State and local agents. It also comprises of the US Secret Service, the US Attorney’s office, and others. This is a team of experienced and skilled personnel who can dig deeper into the vices and come up with bankable solutions (Ojjp, 2004).
There is also a non-criminal justice entity that could have enhanced the success of the initiative. The entity is the healthcare sectors. These include all the stakeholders in the provision of medical care services, nursing, and others. They could have contributed through reporting the statistics of those affected by the substance and drug abuse and are seeking medical help, provide intelligence to the wounded criminals in criminal attacks, and also report those asking assistance in any way and are related to criminal activities. The contributions of the health sector in eradicating crime cannot hence be overlooked at. Due to this, the sector is the most active non-criminal entity that could have enhanced the initiative (Artigiani, 2001).
