Wal-Mart is a U.S. Multinational retail corporation that offers electronics, home furnishings, baby gear among many other products. It has more than 5500 stores and operates in more than 26 nations currently. The company suffers a big problem when it comes to communication among its department. There is poor dissemination of information among its departments something that affects is efficiency. Poor communication exists due to lack of proper co-ordination among the departments of the supermarket.
Poor communication among the departments of the supermarket may have various adverse effects to the employees. First, poor communication among the departments will lead to poor communication of the objectives and the goals of the supermarket. This means that the employees will be in darkness and will not be aware of what is expected to them something that will lead to inefficiency. In addition, poor communication will leave the employees unsatisfied because they do not know what the department requires to deliver. As a result, the employees will lower their productivity something that will also lower the performance of the supermarket.
Therefore, it is important for the management to enhance proper communication of its department. This will be possible of the management conducts rotation within the departments. Rotation will help settle the problem of lack of co-ordination that arises due to personal differences. In addition, the management needs also to have developed communication metrics that will help to determine with there is proper communication going on within its departments. Finally, the management also needs to encourage employees to provide feedback to their bosses in order to help them determine whether there were proper communications of their job expectations.
