The Al-Noor School is one of the prominent schools in Brooklyn, New York, which is famous in gender segregation. The school is dedicated to teaching the Islam and its curriculum base most of its studies in Arabic. All the students in the school must have knowledge of the Quran. Although the school is Muslim based, it offers other core studies such as Social Studies, Math, English and science. The school has been in existence since 1995 and has a total number of 650 who are in the school currently. The school is a full-fledged institution that offers Regend High School diplomas. The school has been undergoing several changes in its leadership through changing the Board of Trustees.
Al Noor School was founded in 1995. It was a time marked by great hardship and educational reform. Prior to the opening of Al Noor School, the students were predominantly educated in the NYC public school system. It was the job of the parent to obtain an Arabic / Islamic tutor to assist in educating their children in Arabic language and Islamic studies. With the opening of Al Noor, our students were able to excel in their academic as well as Islamic studies.
It is the dream of the school to build a new five-story, 117,000 square feet facility. This school is expected to educate in excess of 2,000 students, ranging from nursery to 12th grade, as well as special needs children. The new facility is also expected to boast state of the art science laboratories, gymnasium, swimming pool, computer labs, prayer rooms and a sprawling English and Islamic library. The new facility will be the largest Islamic educational institution in the United States.
The school is surrounded by quite a number of roads and avenues. The good infrastructure makes it easy for the parents to access the school, but it also has a disadvantage of the noise associated with the vehicle engines. However, the place seems to be urban and quite habitable with a number of stores like TQ beauty Nail Supply Inc, car wash and detail center, Rite care pharmacy located Iuliano reality Corp near the school. The entrance to the school is characterized by a very small entrance door with old paint and iron fencing. Near the entrance, there are two trees that are not very much welcoming though not too bad .The Arabic words on the right upper side of the entrance give an impression that the school is Islamic. The air conditioners sited around the school portray the proper learning environment of the school. The students seem to be studying in air-conditioned classrooms.
In conclusion, the school's neighborhood has buildings and tall trees that make the place look appealing. Proper arrangement of structures in the school compound is better than the surrounding environment. The quietness of the school compound reflects the level of discipline of the students.
