Hillary Rodham Clinton is a woman of her own, as she is very smart, brilliant, and successful lawyer. She was a former Republican who rose to prominent and a committed stalwart of the party and later become America’s First Democratic Lady (Rayner, 2003). Essentially, Hillary Clinton was born in 1947, in Chicago, Illinois. In her youth, Hillary joined youthful Republican committees and caucuses and actively campaigned for Barry Goldwater, a Republican presidential candidate in 1964. Reverend Martin Luther King’s Chicago speech inspired her to join the public service. In 1968, she became a Democrat. Research indicates that she was actively engaged in college and university politics at Wellesley College. Before graduating in 1969, she was voted president at some point. While pursuing a degree at Yale University, Hillary met Clinton. After graduation with honours, she enrolled at Yale Child Study Centre, taking courses on medicine and children, with a one post-graduate year of study. As a college student, she undertook different and vocational trainings during her holidays. Specifically, in 1971, Hillary first came to Washington where she was actively involved in U.S. Walter Mondale's subcommittee that was concerned with migrant workers. In 1972, she campaigned vigorously for George McGovern, a Democratic presidential nominee (Walker, n.d.).
Hillary and Bill Clinton got married in 1975. Years before her husband became president; she worked in Jimmy Carter’s campaign that was successful. She also worked at Rose Law Firm in Little Rock, among other places. For some time in the 80’s Bill Clinton worked as a governor and became president in 1993. With Bill restricted to two terms in the office of the president, Hillary Rodham Clinton decided to vie for New York Senate seat. She defeated the famous Republican Lazio Rick by a very broad margin, as she worn with over 55% of the votes while Lazio garnered about 43%. Consequently, Hillary Clinton made history in being the first, first lady who sought and won national office. Besides, she became the first woman voted to the U.S. Senate from New York and subsequently re-elected in 2006 (Walker, n.d.).
In 2007, Hillary proclaimed her intentions to run for presidency, but conceded her nomination when it became apparent that most delegates would prefer Barrack Obama. In early 2007, Clinton announced her plans to run for the presidency. After Obama had won the national election, he appointed Hillary as secretary of state. After being sworn in January 2009, she served in that position until 2013. As a Secretary of State, she made human rights and women’s rights as some of the core issues to be addressed across the globe at the time. In American history, Hillary became one of the most travelled secretaries of State, (Walker, n.d.). Other initiatives that she instigated during her tenure as secretary of state include promoting social media use to inform on the position of The United States in regards to foreign policies of the Obama administration. In addition, she led diplomatic efforts in response to the Arab Spring of 2011 and Libya’s military intervention. John Kerry succeeded her, (Alter, 2011; Walker, n.d.).
Since 2013, Clinton has been giving talks in various universities as well as at the Bill Clinton Foundation, among other places. Many Americans view her as a potential 2017 Democratic presidential hopeful. On the other hand, Republicans see her as a threat in the White House succession politics. Consequently, they watch keenly for any controversies that may make her bid fail, especially if she happens to make a decision in that direction. In recent days, her use of private email, while serving as a secretary of state, is being questioned. It is on this development that I would like to invite her for an interview. I would like Americans to know her in-depth explanations on the controversy, as well as her plans as a public servant.
