Pros And Cons Of Living Off Campus Argumentative Essay

Any older adult will fondly remember his university or college life as one of the most colorful and exciting times of his life. This is a time when one meets new friends and communes with them for almost the whole time he is in college. This short paper posits that living off campus is more beneficial for the student than living on campus. This means that the student is more productive if he takes up residence outside of the university grounds.
The first reason why living off campus is better for any student is that one is able to avoid the normal temptations of student life in the dormitories. While the dormitories hold the promise of drinking, sex and other vices, living off campus therefore is able to eliminate the temptations for the student to engage in these vices. While there are chances for him to engage in the same in an off-campus location, still, the promise of temptation is eliminated.
Secondly, the environments in campus dormitories are normally so rowdy and noisy. A serious student will have difficulty concentrating on his work because of people coming in and going out of the rooms, and with students holding drinking parties on weekends. Those students living under these environments normally end up exhausted and unable to concentrate on school work.
Perhaps one reason contrary to living off campus is that one may have a difficult time commuting from one’s residence off-campus. If the drive is too long, or too tedious in terms of traffic, or if one has to take unreliable public transport to school, then one may end up more harassed and tired than if one was simply staying in a university campus dormitory. This is perhaps the biggest drawback to living off-campus.
Living off campus therefore is still more attractive in this case, given the reasons above. More quiet and privacy, and the avoidance of the temptation to engage in vices both make living off campus very attractive for students.
