Reading Report Reports Example
Farming is one of the oldest activities on the face of the earth. It was initially done for production of food purposes and a sign of wealth in the society. However, farming started being commercialized and hence the need of farmers coming together in cooperatives to fetch the best from the markets. The author gives interest to this issue and the importance of cooperatives in the development of farmers and their farm produce. The major points outlined by the writer of the report include issues such as organization of agricultural tasks, inconsistencies in distribution of farm equipment, and compensation.
Another major issue raised by the author is compensation. Farmers in the LPG programs enjoyed several advantages with a relative higher pay than in the GDR programs. However, GDR offers a number social benefits to the farmers though they offer a relatively lower pay. The social benefits include paid leaves for pregnant women who are away for maternity reasons. Farmers also get health care at subsidized rates and the children given chance to access education. This makes the GDR more beneficial for the locals in comparison with LPG. LPGs accessed farm equipment at planned and controlled allocations. This made farmers access machines as tractors at the time they are available and not the time they needed them. As a result the farming timing and processes were interfered with, that then impacts the ultimate produce.
My opinion with regards to the articles is that the two methods of farming can be merged together and the positive aspects of the ways of farming combined. It is important for the farmers to work under cooperatives that will cushion them from issues that are complex to individual farmers. However, it is also important for farmers to have liberty of making certain decisions at an individual level.
