Little House in the war zone.
The article is about the author, who lived in a house within suburban Baghdad during the reign of Saddam Hussein in the Iraq-Iran war. The author ells about the many ways in which her house has been ravaged and used and how she still clings to her house as it has many memories that she cherishes. What caught my attention in this article was the mere fact that an individual has so much to look after in his house. It is completely new as to how devoted the author is in terms of loving her house and caring for it. It is something entirely different from the ordinary. What was well said is the feeling she described about Saddam Hussein visiting them so much. She said it looked like poison gas leaking into their home and she was right. There aren’t any questions since the reading was quite straight to the point, and not confusing at all.
A good man is hard to find.
The story is about how a family mistakenly turns the wrong way due to a mistake of the grandmother, who is with the family. The story revolves around a misfit and his talk with the grandmother as the Misfit’s friends slowly kill the entire family, with the grandmother being shot in the end by the misfit himself. The story is quite absurd. It is confusing in the way as to why the misfit keeps killing the family members. The one question that I have is as to why the misfit observes that life has no pleasure and that the grandmother would have been a nice person had someone shot her for every minute of her life. Perhaps, the answer is that the misfit lived a life in jail and possibly in torment. Maybe that is why he says that life has no pleasure. As for the grandmother, maybe he demanded that she be shot every minute of her life because she either talks too much or remembers too much.
