Religion and morality thus lead to diverse claims and make for a variety of human experience. According to Al-Ashari, God sets the standard of right and wrong. Looking back in history, different religions offer different practical justifications for the rights and wrong. However, one cannot place the complete responsibility of the right and wrong on God and hold Him responsible for the religion and morality in our lives. It is true that humans have a tendency to err, but should not seek the answers blindly in their religion. Al-Ashari portrays God to be all powerful and all knowing. Still, his reasons are not strong enough as he says that God can be merciful as well as revengeful.

Christian leaders advocated total war during the twentieth and twenty-first century the interest of defending the faith and the Christians felt obligated to defend the empire and Church with force. According to Roland Bainton, during those Holy Crusades, the enemy was looked upon to be a complete demon, and that needs to be destroyed. This view only defends violence against others under the garb of religion and killing the innocent or attacking the guilty in the name of religion. Wars have been justified in the name of religion before . On one hand life, has been seen as sacred while, on the other side, the human life is destroyed and justified because the religion demands it. Those holy wars during the twentieth and twenty-first century were based on all kind of rationales that justified killing in the name of religion. It is ironical that all religions taught tolerance, love and respect for others while, at the same time, wars were fought to defend their beliefs and religions. The churches have supported war efforts during different revolutions and have sided with their respective governments. They are known to develop a very optimistic pacifistic attitude, but with no enthusiasm and unwillingness. War, no matter where or what the reason behind is unjust as it brings sufferings and killing of the innocent. Both sides look upon each other as an enemy that should be destroyed at all costs. However, a war cannot be justified, even if it is fought in the name of the religion.
