Religion has always been an important part of human history. Although it may be perceived as a negative variable for contributing in the division of humans for God knows how many years, it still remains a significant piece of the puzzle that makes up human history. The required reading focuses on the central theme of Islamic Religion as the foundation of knowledge. It summarizes the correct implication, meaning of servitude, faith, and worship, for the Islamic religion, and how Islam compares in relation to other culture. The authors establishes many things about this religion, a particularly important part of which includes Islam’s teachings that are considered the divine code or the divine law, the practical detriments of life and core Islamic teachings, and its applications in real life. The chapter also discusses the different areas where man is bound by the divine revelation, suggesting that faith, general concept of life, morals, rituals, values, and standards, and virtues, are all covered by the divine revelation. In the same manner, facets that are not covered or bound by the divine revelation were also revealed and explained such as the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy, and medicine, among others. The chapter also discussed the different ways how the Islamic culture has affected the proliferation of human knowledge such as via philosophy, interpretation of the human history from an Islamic perspective, and even psychology, and also how culture and Zionism have contributed to Islam and Islamic teachings, and then vice versa. All in all, this section of the book pretty much talked about the different facets of Islam and its characteristics that make it a globally relevant religion, the things that are bound by its teachings, and the things that are outside its scope.
