Which of the TESOL Technology Standards for Students deal with communication and collaboration directly? Write at least three of them here.
The three major TESOL technology standards for students that deal with communication and collaboration are discussed below.
A chat room can prove to be useful for interacting with each other, especially when chatters are from different origins. In this way, they will be able to interact and convey their message more precisely. This activity will enhance their team building skill.
Discussion forums are considered to be another useful tool. They will help students to understand the complete scenario before moving ahead. Moreover, as their communication will be part of the thread, therefore, they will adhere to the ongoing conversation and add up the additional information to match the previously added.
Software are also new emerging tools for collaboration. Software allows not only reviewing each other’s work but it also allows commenting and monitoring the work of other members.
Using the bulleted list of benefits of communication and collaboration on page 54 in Egbert, describe a task that could be done in Minecraft to help students obtain most or all of these benefits.
One activity that can be performed in order to achieve the maximum benefits is to design a game where one student will act as an office boss and others will be delegated different duties as if they are working in an office. In this way, each member will be assigned different and separate activity. What needs to be taken care of is that each member is assigned an activity so that all remain busy and none remains free. In addition, minor variation is allowed but no member should be over burned at the expense of other. Using these activity students, will perform some office tasks, which would not be possible to accomplish without interacting and collaborating with each other. Task completion will help them to understand the meaning and value of teamwork and collaboration.
