Economic realities

Criminal offenders are sometimes required to pay court-ordered restitution. Some offenders are not able to pay the restitution. It should not be taken as an offender’s denial to pay the charges but it occurs as a result of financial constraints and the offender cannot compensate the victim. In such a case, other methods can be adopted to compensate the victims.
The government and other non-governmental organizations can come in and compensate the victims while the offender faces the punishment that is passed for them. Governments can set aside funds for emergencies and funds to help criminal victims.
The society can help their criminal victims. They can come together and offer help to the involved society members. In the case where a criminal has been imprisoned for a specific number of years, they can then be involved in community programs where they will have to work for the society after completing their jail terms. They can get a small pay to help meet their various needs. The rest of the funds can be saved and used to help other criminal victims.
The methods have various advantages one of them being that the criminal victims will not be affected by the financial positions of the offenders. The compensation solutions will also help in preventing the exposure of the offender’s financial position. Despite being criminals, they also have their rights that should be protected.
There are also disadvantages involved with these methods. Offenders can take advantage of the fact that they don’t have to pay court-ordered restitution. The persons in the lower class financial classes may tend to get involved in crimes in higher numbers compared to persons in other financial classes.
