Primarily, ethical principles have a universal standard of practice where honesty, integrity and loyalty are needed while managing human resource. Sense of trust and views of credibility from clients or customers which ensures sustainable success could be lost when organizations do not adhere to these basic ethical principles which could be termed as staffing philosophies. This short essay highlights only three of the 12 Ethical Principles for Business Executives by Michael Josephson, by Josephson Institute on December 17, 2010. Products or services will not meet the qualitative demands of the competitive market if the human resources employed in the productive outputs are not honest. When the behavior aspects of the human resource are not effectively executed by knowledge management on ethical issues, the employees could affect the reputation of an organization. It delivers relevant information correctly along with true facts of misconception. Ethics and character matters while managing human resources in any work environment, and lack of proper deployment of ethical principles, the professional way, amidst human resource have led reputed organizations like Enron, and Arthur Andersen to disastrous failures.
The management needs to maintain reliability and uprightness in human resource to sustain ‘integrity’ scrupulously, which projects the wholeness of a character with consistency in all its expressions and functionalities in any work environment. Dependability and credibility, the core essence of trustworthiness of a human resource needs to be loyal within the framework of ethical principles of an organization. Economic failures happen when products or services are not reliable, and dependable due to unethical approaches. There is a tendency to term ethical principles as a staffing philosophy, whereas a character and behavior is more of a human psychological sense which needs governance by the management for the success of business.
