The main factors to consider when deciding whether to purchase a laptop or a tablet include;
1. Usage- When deciding between a laptop and a tablet a purchaser should consider their kind of usage. The laptops are mainly created and designed for content creation such a creating, formatting and editing documents and videos. The tablets are primarily designed for content consumption with minimal creation.
Price- Price is also an important factor when deciding on what to purchase. This is mainly because there are some tablets that are even more expensive than a conventional laptop. However, a laptop has more functionality. It is, therefore, important to decide on what kind of utility is required (Carol et al., 2011).
2. Portability- laptops tend to be bulkier than the tablets hence making it difficult to carry around. On the other hand, tablets are lightweight and can easily fit in a purse or a small backpack.

Key Features and Important Characteristics

There are various features and characteristic that one needs to consider before making a purchase of either of the gadgets. The main factors to consider include:
1. Storage- The storage capacity of a device will determine how much information, documents and videos can be crammed into it. Laptops come with larger memory sizes with variations ranging from 128 to 512 GB. On the other hand, tablets come with lesser standard storage capacity ranging from 16 to 64 GB.
2. Battery life- the amount of time that a device can run on the battery charge will determine the amount of work that a user can do. Tablets generally have a higher battery capacity, therefore, can be convenient for users who are always on the move.
3. Display size and clarity- The size and clarity of the display will determine the efficiency of operating the device or manipulating documents and other files. Tablets have a higher pixel density averaging 218 pixels per inch compared to the average of 116 pixels per inch on laptops. This is mainly because the laptops have larger screens that require less density to create a clear display.
4. Memory (RAM) - This depends on the kind of user, heavy users will require to have a large enough in order to avoid dumping old information that may prove to be useful in the near future. Laptops come with a much larger memory capacity compared to the tablets. This large memory enables switching between tasks and applications fast and easy compared to the tablets. The lesser memory of the tablets would require frequent refreshing of the applications that may prove to be a minor nuisance (Kenneth & Jane, 2013).

I selected tablets from the world’s leading manufacturers and did a comparison;
Looking at the above comparison I will go for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, it a relatively efficient processor and is also lightweight for easy portability. The tablet is also relatively cheap in the market compared to the other tablets.
