Introduction

An ideology is a coherent system of commonly held beliefs and values. Beliefs are people's assessment of reality and what they believe to be true. On the other hand, values are people's ideas of right and wrong. Ideologies of the society answer eternal questions cutting off competing beliefs and values; they explain the reason it works in such a way they help us predict the future (Stiwell, 2014).
There are three major ideologies being Liberal, Moderate, and Conservative, with the American ideology most closely approximated by classic liberalism and the two major Political parties taking a the biggest representation of either Liberal or Conservative. The Democratic Party aligns to Liberals against the Republicans that aligns to the Conservatives. I support Liberalism because we advocate for the extension and conservation of civil, social and human rights as well as the government assured provision of positive rights (education, health care, among others), social progressivism, cultural pluralism, and mixed economy (Stilwell, 2014). The modern Democratic Party was founded around 1828, making it the oldest political party in the world that is still in existence thus we can trace the history of Liberalism to 1828. Since the 1930s, the party has supported a center-left and social-liberal platform.
In Gallup/USA Today polling of June 2010, 42% of those surveyed identify as conservative, 35% as moderate, while 20% identify as liberal. Conservatives maintain their stronghold on America’s political leanings this past year (2013), outnumbering those who identify as liberals and moderates in 2014. At the beginning of 2014, Democrats enclosed out Republicans by five points with 46 percent recognizing versus the 41 percent identifying as
Republicans (Jones, 2014). Conservatives, sustained to outnumber liberals and moderates in the U.S. population in 2014, as they have since 2009.
