Introduction

Human existence has been the subject of discussion for decades with the controversies surrounding the issue of the self. Philosophers and theologians alike fundamentally disagree on the nature of humans and employ various analogies to further their viewpoints concerning their belief system. Existentialists, feminists and non-western critics have registered divergent opinions concerning the nature of humans. Avocado and artichoke present divergent facts on the characterization of the self to the extent that they offer divergent views on the critical concerns raised by different quarters. This paper provides a reflection on the understanding of different historical and philosophical approaches to self with a specific focus on avocado and artichoke analogies.
The nature of humans has been analogized through the understanding of an avocado fruit. Human nature, as explained in the avocado analogy, describes humans as being a group with essences. Ideally, the philosophy of in the avocado fruit is that humans are identified by their traits that they expose in different situations and settings (Aloni, 2002). Inherent cores that bring people together to engage in a certain manner connect humans. Essentially, humans have traits and principles that present an identical way of operation in the human life. Human beings are connected to the core by the certain elements that are definitive and essential for human existence (Aloni, 2002). Human beings, just like an avocado, have a core where they subscribe to as appropriate.
The absence of the core means that there is a lack of the essence and, therefore, the ambiguity of existence. Human existence in the analogy of avocado is characterized by a principle value that derives connection in certain dimensions of life. Modern theories and Greek rationalism underscore the fact that reason is defined by the essence, which is a core principle of human existence. Women have for decades been alienated from key sectors of the society due to their perceived irrational tendencies. Women have sought to claim their identity in the society by tying their hope on the avocado principle. The feminist theory notes that understanding the values and rationality of women depends on the avocado principle. Existentialists also argue that human beings exist best on core values and principles that are defined by certain objectives.
The artichoke presents a divergent opinion concerning the existence of humans. While the seed principal as noted in the avocado analogy defines the human existence, artichoke intimates that the essence of being is based on layers. Artichoke argues that human existence is oriented in layers and not a seed. Ideally, the artichoke argues that humans exist based on emotions, experiences and masculinity (Aloni, 2002). Additionally, artichoke notes that human existence cannot be confined to static characteristics. It claims that human existence should be defined by progressive tendencies. The artichoke is a postmodern view of the human existence that argues that the essence should be versatile and not confined to a specific orientation (Mitchell, 2014).

Conclusion

Human existence elites mixed reactions, especially when viewed from the avocado and artichoke point of views. Avocado analogy defines the self from the point of view of fixed orientations. On the other hand, artichoke claims that humans exist based on progressive tendencies. Human beings are characterized by certain elements that fundamentally distinguish them from other subjects. Human existence is characterized by a combination of factors, and both avocado and artichoke should be examined against their assertions.
