Much of the chapter of Total War is about getting 100% of people to commit to a war that they might not want to be part to fight against the enemy. While when the enemy is a Zombie this make it a little bit of a predicament.
In ‘Bred, fed and led.’ (p. 334) Finding warm bodies is always difficult. They have to be bred (or recruited), they need to be fed (requires a lot of supplies and support staff) and they have to be led (need for a leader). This is more difficult against a much larger force be it Zombies or Russian insurgents. In the latter the Ukraine has declared total war by recently enforcing mass conscription (1). Joining the military in many countries has not been favorable thus recruiting methods have changed to be more inclusive. This includes bringing people into the military that were previously not included. In the US and the Netherlands (2) this includes lesbian gay bisexual and transexual persons.

Preventing Suicide after War

The L pill vs. killing your comrade or changing policy to prevent suicide (Page 365). In the World War Z they had people that witnessed many horrific events. This led to massive suicides. In the American military suicide is also common with returning veterans coming from Iraq and Afghanistan. There have been several policies that have been put in place to prevent this. This policy needs to be integrated into the culture of the people (this happened in World War Z by using religious doctrine). Particularly, in the Air Force after such programs have been implemented a drop in 33% of suicides were reported (1).

Use of Drones in War (p.379 World War Z)

In World War Z they used ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) or Drones to go after Zack (Zombies). However, the robots were never as efficient than the humans even though there was a lot of propaganda of drones limiting human casualty. In the US drones also have become a familiar topic in public policy. They have to have specific oversight and transparency for their justification of use (1).
