Sample Essay On The School Dress Code Needs To Be Checked.
There have been many topics raised by the dress code for the parents and the Board officials in many schools all over the country as well as across the continent. Many decisions and arguments have been raised and have been worked out by the administrations as well as the local school administrations about student dress code. All these have been made at the request of the parents, who, on the other had different opinions on the same issue (Raby, 32). It has been argued and decided by many administration calling for a particular dress code for the students, because of a number of reasons.
Public schools have come up with harsh decisions about the student’s dressing code, but the end, it will be discovered that this was a good idea, which will save someone’s life in the future. These decisions mainly are about the student’s uniforms and their dressing codes (Boynton, p 83). Many public schools have seen the need to address this issue on the student dress code and on seeing what most of their students were wearing and what those clothes are all about, they have decided to come up rules and regulations regarding the student dress code (Rasop 76).
Some schools have banned all the clothes that may in one way or the other seem to be inappropriate for their students (Raso, p 54). The report revealed that baggy clothes for the school going students are dangerous. This is because, such clothes might be used inappropriately by the students to hide dangerous weapons and even illicit items and smuggle them to school. These are many loose pants, shirts, hats and jackets. They have also banned all the clothes that might have inappropriate saying and symbols.
The cost of maintaining a more stylish wardrobe for the students might seem too much expensive for some families. This is because, families have other important things to do with their money on instead of spending them in the image of the students (Boynton, p 83). Having a standard dress code will help to keep the costs of school down for such struggling families. In some schools, several cased have been reported about fighting or even stealing that is mainly based on the expensive clothes that some student used to wear (Raby, 32). Furthermore, there are many clothes that are in fashion for both girls and boys but they may not be appropriate to be used as school dress code. For this, parents and students should be driven by common sense when choosing clothes. The schools are supposed to determine what can be seen as appropriate and not appropriate for their students to be used as dressing code. Furthermore, school dress should not be seen as a fashion for the students.
There are several reasons as to why school dress code should be addressed. It is more appropriate for the schools to have a specific dress code since it will enable parents to save money that would otherwise be spent on student’s clothes (Boynton, p 84). Other clothes might be very expensive, and this will likely to bring out the issues of theft cases at schools. Furthermore, baggy clothes may be used inappropriately to carry dangerous weapons at schools such as guns, which might be life threatening to other students. Furthermore, clothing brings about discrimination and division among students, and this can be addressed by the introduction of a specific dress code for all the students.
After an interview, majority of the parents were on the view that schools should have a specific dressing code. The majority said this in particularly so that there can be some kind of uniformity among the students as well as to enhance neatness. Some of the interviewed students also responded that a standard dress code needs to effected in both public and private schools so as the reduce theft cases as well saving the money that would have been by their parents in purchasing the latest fashion that are very expensive. Furthermore, a few school administration who were interviewed also responded saying that there is a need to have a standard dress for all the students both in private and public schools.
