Business administration is a career whose primary purpose to impart management skills in those who opt to pursue it. Such people deal with the issues that emanate from organizations and manage critical operations that pertain to them. As such, scientific skills play an imperative role in how business administrators carry out their work. A good business administrator heavily relies on their ability to accurately analyze data, something upon which science is premised. Business administration may seem like an area that is associated with humanities, but science serves as a core part of it. Practically, all the organizations rely on data for the proper analysis of their performance and position. Data is helpful in solving problems because it gives room for the analysis of where solutions can be found. It gives room for the discovery of information that can be paramount to the performance of a business organization. Science is the best avenue for the provision of this skill because experts use it on a daily basis (Koslowski, 1997). A business administrator needs to analyze the data that relates to things such as market segments and changes in variation, employee numbers and distribution among others. The economy and business world is dynamic. Hence, data analysis skills would help in the identification these changes and help business administrators in taking their organizations to another level.
Critical thinking is probably one of the most important aspects of business administration. The reason is that it involves the proper evaluation of a situation before judgment can be made (Moriarty, 1997). Science is also reliant on critical thinking skills before results can be concluded. After correctly analyzing data, scientists have to exploit their critical thinking side and come up with an explanation for the finding or recommendations. They have constantly to solve problems that require them to think critically. For business administrators to solve issues in an organization, they need to adopt the scientific mode of critical thinking. They need to evaluate a situation properly because that is the only way they can make good judgment. In science, such evaluation is made from the facts that are present and the wisdom in the field. Scientists use the two to think critically and offer recommendations. In essence, business administration would not work without critical thinking because it provides objectiveness when solving an issue.
Also, science is characterized by good observation skills. Scientists monitor all kinds of experiments and are thus required to be very alert and observant. Anything that goes unobserved could be the difference between good and bad judgment. The same case should apply to business administrators. They need to be highly observant of the goings in and out of the businesses they manage. Business administrators need to be alert at all times and be able to infer the circumstances that surround their observation. Scientists notice even the slightest of changes in the experiments they conduct and presume them as serious until otherwise proved. The same scenario should apply in Business Administration. Whether it regards to employees, money or other issues, anything that happens should be put into consideration. They need to observe like scientists because it is also important for the creation of opportunities. A good opportunity could be passed up if administrators are not observant.
