Microchip implant is the procedure of implanting a microchip into a human being. The commonly used chip implant is known as the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. It is very small in size and can be carefully injected by means of a hypodermic syringe. This chip can provide a lot of benefits to our school such as being able to record a student’s entire medical history, and also provide a quick retrieval of information compared to our usual paper based records, just by using a RFID scanner. Using the short range radio frequency identification signals, it can transmit a student’s identity as he or she pass through our security checkpoints around school. In a worst case scenario, if a student is kidnapped, for example, it could save his/her life.
We can also use them for opening the door of our library as a personalized ID using your arm. It could also be used to track students targeted who might wander into restricted areas in school.
They are so easy to install and remove. And because they are implanted underneath the skin, they are inconspicuous. These chips, which are the size of a thumbnail, can be implanted into an arm or a hand of a student. If students were chipped, teachers could easily take the attendance in the classroom.
At our school clinic, administrators can locate doctors without even having to rely on their pagers. And if you walked into a donut shop, the owner could read your taste preferences (glazed or not glazed) without needing a loyalty card.

Airport facilities use this technology as part of its identification procedure where the software engine compares the image on the ID picture such as driver’s license against a database in order to discover if there is an identity deception. This deception or fraud is in the form of identity mugging, fabricated identity or duplicated names. In the criminal justice system, the police enforcement uses this technology to capture mug shots of the suspects and store it in its country-wide database. Despite the benefits that facial recognition software and other similar application has brought into various organization, civil rights groups and privacy activist contest that such devices compromise and invade the privacy of an individual. These applications not only can recognize and identify and individual, but can also associate the facial information to uncover personal information. Curious individuals can use the photos captured from the facial software for linkage to other photos feature a specific individual such as in social media profiles, travel models as well as blog posts. Government agencies also use the same technology to protect the public; however, some people find it distressing about the fact that there is an assault of their privacy by the fact that their face is personal information. Worst-case scenario, an expert hacker successfully taps into this database and utilize information to create harm and offend anybody. Facial recognition software is a technology that supposed to assist various agencies secure its members protect the citizens and community against crime and recognize offenders and suspicious looking characters. The same technology, however, if not appropriately secured will become the cause of different crimes.

The usage of the facial recognition software is not similar to being asked to display your drivers license at a store when using your credit card. The practice is rather the same because it is meant to guard citizens from offenders. The difference is that customers have the right to decline to display their Identification Caerd, though it may mean not buying anything at that store.
• Should the government be able to place digital video cameras on every street corner and use facial recognition software to monitor your movements? Why or why not?
Facial recognition software is a valuable tool when used appropriately. A lot of cities use this kind of software to successfully increase their police force.
The LAPD, for example, installed a license plate recognition and facial recognition software in MacArthurPark in January 2004 as a test run. It proved to be successful in apprehending criminals, solving crimes and also multiplied their police force.
The crime rate in that region dropped significantly after the complete installation of the cameras. Similar type of cameras were also installed in the Ybor City but were unsuccessful. I am a believer that once a person breaks the law, he/she has already given up their right to privacy.
Facial recognition cameras have been greatly used to apprehend drug dealers, thieves and kidnappers. When a young teenager was snatched and killed in the Tampa region and her murderer was caught on tape recorded at some local car wash, his arrest far outweighed the loss of rights to privacy.
The government should not place cameras on every street corner, however, if particular areas are high in crime and her citizens are in danger, the government then should use any means necessary to help make the area safe and sound.
Citizens who reside and work in such crime infested areas should be notified and helped understand the various reasons for the intervention. Once the area is safe from criminals then the cameras should be removed to safeguard the rights of residents.
