Semantics Essay Example
Being an international student, it is hard to understand different phenomena that could be found during studying English and other various languages. Learning new words has been always a big problem with for people with ESL.
English semantics differs from semantic of any other language, because there is all our language are different. People think that terms are the same in all languages that languages vary only in the forms that were used for those terms. (Zhang, 2009) To great regret, various languages combine meanings into words in diverse ways. One can see that in English language some word might have different equivalents in Spanish, but not having such meaning in Russian depending on exactly what is meant.
I think that it is crucially important to first of all, study semantics for generally not to mess up with words and with their meaning. It would be much easier for a person to understand the meaning of some particular word, and not only the general meaning but as many meanings as it is possible. Furthermore, it is essential to draw a parallel with another languages, as well with your mother language when deal with ESL students, as it would be easier for a person to connect meaning of the same word in 2 different languages.
