Seven Creative Writing Sample
In this paper the homicide movie ‘Seven’ is the center of the focus. Seven is the movie depicting the seven sins, namely, wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. The storytelling and vision of the filmmaker in this movie is realistic and hauntingly creative. The killer ‘John Doe’ played by Kevin Spacey is the triumph card of the movie. However, dedication of Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt towards their portrayal of a soon to be retired detective and a young enthusiastic detective respectively, is unforgettable. Right from the beginning the movie catches the eyes of the audience by the homicide investigation that is so downgrading and vicious that the investigation becomes a part of the life of the investigators. The killer is very adamant in proving his point of the existence of the seven deadly sins through his act of murders. He takes pride in his work. He is also very careful in the perfect portrayal of his work, too. He wants the detectives to find out his work and admire him. He leaves a trail of breadcrumbs for the investigators to come close to him after each homicide.
The end scene when Kevin Spacey reveals his true identity in the hall-way is the majestic scene of the movie. Just after this scene, follows the climax sequence. The climax where the John Doe presents the head of the wife of detective Mills is also gruesome and cruel. Unfortunately, the John Doe is able to accomplish his work of removing seven sins from the face of the earth. His sin was envy. He envied the life and pleasures of the life of detective Mills. All other sins were dealt with except these two sins, Envy and Wrath. The wrath is something that detective Mills could not control and he killed John Doe. Thus accomplishing the ultimate goal of the psychopathic serial killer. The visuals and cinematic of the film is very realistic and lifelike.
