Years and years the governments of many countries tried to fight this addiction that causes a number of terrible diseases and ailments. The governments are usually guided by the following rule: “If a person faces with some discomfort to light up a cigarette and smoke, he will give up this habit”. Unfortunately, they don’t usually consider nicotine as the same drug as heroine. Most of studies and researchers in this field prove that about seven hundreds chemical additives in cigarettes do have a great impact on people’s health. Just like the other most dangerous drug, nicotine causes a serious addiction and moral necessity in smoking, smoker often faces with the problem of dosing. These similarities with almost every drug are pretty alarming even without starting the enumeration of all damages that a smoker causes to himself by inhaling the poisonous substances. Smoking affects people’s health in two ways: in short term and long term. One or two years after addiction a smoker meets with nausea, shortness of breath, coughing, bad breath, reduces lung function, dizziness and son on. The long term effects appear after many years of systematic smoking and they are: different kinds of cancer, facial wrinkles, heart and lung diseases, Emphysema, pregnancy complications and lots of irreversible changes in men and women organisms.
The harm the smokers do to themselves is not the only reason why smoking should be definitely prohibited. The smoker endangers the health of people around them as well.
Smokers with a great years’ experience won’t give up this habit just because of the governmental restrictions. Therefore it would be much more efficient and wiser to ban the cigarette production, limit its sales and lay contribution, fees and charges on tobacco, limit tar and nicotine in cigarettes in order to prevent the discrimination.
