Theories of Personality
Both theories believed that behavior is a result of what one learns from the experience. Whereas radical behaviorism theory believed that environmental influence controls people, social-cognitive believed people as goal oriented having specific intentions in addition to purposes (Hergenhahn & Olson, 2011). The theory understood the basis of learning to be the observation of others. The behavioral theory is based on the concepts of classical in addition to operant conditioning and that learning leads to the production of behavior. There is abnormal behavior that results from maladapted learning.
The assumptions of mechanisms of learning include that behavior receives influence from experience. For example, a child will behave according to the way the person next to him acts in many times. Secondly, learning involves a process governed by natural laws and is subject to testing and studying. For example, whatever we learn is not our creation. We came and found it already in existence, and we will still leave it. Finally, is that learning is adaptive. For example, children adopt behaviors from their elders and most likely behave like them (Hergenhahn & Olson, 2011).
The assumptions of the role of the inner cause of action include that human beings don’t only get angry by unfortunate adversities but also how they approach their reality views. For example, a person feels worried after seeing a cheetah since back in mind, he associates cheetah with man-eater. Secondly, it assumes that human has both inborn rational and irrational inclinations. For example, a person will experience self-blame after doing something awkward.
The assumptions of the role of reinforcement include that reinforcement happens after presentation of a stimulus or an event as a consequence of a behavior. For example, when a mother gives a present to his child for washing utensils, then the present is reinforcement.
The behaviouralism believed on cognitive strategies for delaying gratification. For example, an individual can cause distraction of the mind so as to forget that particular issue. They make use of age since children with less than five years have a lower gratification and demand for immediate gratification. The cognitive uses procrastinations to delay gratification (Hergenhahn & Olson, 2011). For example, one can postpone using his money today and wait for a future date when the value will have increased.
The individual physical characteristics in addition to way of conduct tell much about the individual. Individuals with presentable physical characteristics attract attention from others and receive respect. For example, an individual who grooms in an awkward manner and goes to address people will receive no attention despite the power of his message (Hergenhahn & Olson, 2011). How a person perceives himself affects how he interacts with the environment in addition to how others treat him. For Example, a person who considers himself as being a role model will always want to protect himself from wrangles of the environment. He will, therefore, behave in a better way. Another person who feels himself as an outcast cares less about the environment and, therefore, does not mind his behaviors.
A child can learn May essential characteristics from the influential adults. They can learn about religion and how to love God (Hergenhahn & Olson, 2011). They can also learn how to respond to the issues of the world in an appropriate way. They can also learn how to appreciate education and the importance of education. Rents expose their children to values and beliefs that are crucial in their lives.
