Good evening friends and family members. It has been years since I left high school. I want to take this prime opportunity to inform you about my graduation ceremony. The purpose of this speech is to inform you about my high school graduation ceremony. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. During this occasion, I was selected as the Valedictorian student of the year. My central argument is that high school presents an opportunity for self –discovery and development that is often ignored by students. The reality finally dawns on the podium when you are about to receive your high school diploma. At this point, you realize all those opportunities you missed and how it is important to pass your exams.
My high school graduation ceremony began with a pomp and color like all the other graduations do. Parents and relatives drove into the school in droves. I remember looking at my mother who had struggled to take me through high school. I was glad at least I had made her proud. I was to receive the Valedictorian of award. My siblings were sat next to my mother. All the students gathered in the hall all of them dressed in their graduation gowns. Someone caught the corner of my eye from where I was sited. I saw Nathan, the brightest of all the students who I had meet in high school. He was my main competitor and he almost won the valedictorian award. Although he was good in sciences he was not good in drama and English. In the second last year he chose website designing and ceased learning.
I diverted my mind to what was happening on the podium. My high school principal called me to deliver my valedictorian speech. I talked about the value of hard work and the world outside high school of the unlimited opportunities. Nathan knew that any particular moment, I would arise and deliver the valedictorian speech.

He tried to run but two muscular men pinned him down and handcuffed him.
My class teacher approached the podium and announced that he had deliberately put his name in the graduation list to lure him into the school compound. Looking back, he would have taken my place as the valedictorian. He had a succinct academic record of straight As for the three years that he was in school. Somewhere along the way, he lost his vision of education as the surest way of achieving success in life. His short lived affair with website designing had not delivered the prosperity he dreamed about. My fellow students, the American education system might be faulty or even might not meet your expectations but it is prudent to remain in school and drink from the fountain of knowledge.
