Summarize The Film Dog Day Afternoon 1975. Essay

This film is derived from realistic story that occurred in 1972 in a banking institution, Chase Manhattan Bank based in Gravesend, Brooklyn. The institution was under control by a gay bank raider whose mission was to rob the bank sufficient funds to finance his male couple to go through genital organs exchange operation. Two broke characters, Sonny, and Sal stumps authority over the First Savings Bank of Brooklyn on a hot summer afternoon. The bank manager and female cashiers agree to cooperate with Sonny, although Sonny realizes that there is less cash to steal as most of the daily cash had been picked up.
Immediately, Sonny gets a surprising call from Police Captain Moretti, who gestures him that the Brooklyn's police force had besieged the place. Sonny threatens that he and his colleague, have captives and will kill everyone if anyone attempted to come inside. Detective Moretti acts as a captive negotiator while FBI agents Sheldon looks his counterpart moves. Having few choices under the conditions, Sonny blackmails Moretti that in order for guaranteed bank staff’s safety, the latter should ensure safe transportation via a jet out of the State. When, a prudent tactical squad comes in via the back door, Sonny fires a gunshot to scare them off. Moretti begs Sonny that this unit was not one of those he was commanding. Sonny throws cash to the police blockages by that provoking the mob. During this scenario, the mob overruns the blockages, and a few are apprehended
Later, Sonny’s wife Leon Schermer arrives and tells the police why Sonny is robbing the bank and also he has a legitimate wife. Leon refuses to have a conversation with the gang leader via the phone. When dark sets in, the lights in the banks are all shut. Sonny goes outside and realizes that Sheldon has stumped authority over the scene. The agent refuses to give Sonny any more preferences, but when captive Mulvaney undergoes diabetic shock, gives the doctor access inside. While the doctor is inside the bank, Leon is convinced by Sheldon to talk to the gang leader via the phone. After the phone call, the doctor requests Sonny to let Mulvaney leave, and Sonny does not turn down the offer. Sheldon, FBI agent is allowed by Moretti to take over the conversation with Sonny. The agent signals to Sonny that a limousine would arrive to come and pick them up at Kennedy Airport.
When the limousine reaches the destination, Sonny inspects the vehicle to see if there are lethal weapons hidden. Sonny confirms that the limousine is safe for traveling to Kennedy Airport and enters the vehicle with Agent Murphy to be the driver together with the remaining captives.Sonny sits on the front seats, Murphy the middle and Sal the back seat. Frequently, Murphy reminds Sal to point his gun upwards so that Sal won’t unintentionally shoot him. While wait for the plane to land on the tarmac road, Agent Sheldon pushes Sonny’s gun onto the dashboard. Consequently, a sudden disturbance, which offers Murphy an opportunity to remove his gun he had hidden and shoot Sal on the head. As the gang, Sonny is arrested while in the limousine after Sal is shot. The film concludes with Sonny viewing Sal’s’ body being taken from the stretcher.
