Answer 1: I would ask Susie to come meet me in the office. We would have a private one on one discussion where I would first ask Susie to explain her experience of working in the new department. I would patiently wait for her to complete and then present my point of view. This way we would both have our expectations and opinions out in the open so that we may come up with middle grounds on work on. For instance Susie can come in late one day of the week provided she works overtime over the weekend. This way we would have a win-win situation where both our conditions would be met easily.
Answer 2: If despite of the discussion Susie fails to improve I would have no option but to first issue an oral warning to Susie. If even that does not make any effect then I would have to opt for a written warning would be issued and Susie would have the option to submit a reprimand if she desires. This would hopefully help her improve or the situation might worsen and the chances of issuing a written reprimand might be inevitable.
Answer 3: I would try and communicate openly with Susie from the beginning, whether it is when we discuss our expectations of each other or later if we would have to issue warnings. This way Susie would not be kept in the dark and I would have explained the entire situation to her of how her working etiquettes and conduct is not aligned with that of the new group that she is now a part of and should work harder to adjust herself more to the group instead of making the entire group more adaptive to her.
Answer 4: The time to inform my supervisor would be at step 2 when a written warning would be issued as the warning would have to be kept in a “hold” file so the supervisor should be aware of anything submitted in writing to the subordinates. HR would be informed if the situation worsens and a written reprimand would have to issue. This is step 3 and this written reprimand would be attached to the personnel file of the employee and thus HR needs to be taken into the loop as they have access to the files and they would be better equipped to handle the grievances and response that would be submitted by Susie.
