The U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 6th congressional District
RE: Support for the Amendment of Internal Revenue Code Bill of 1986
I would like to thank you for the Bill you brought to the House on the 15th April, 2015. The bill will to push for the amendment of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, which purports clarify the duty of Commissioner of Internal Revenue. This ensures familiarity of the Internal Revenue Service employees to individual taxpayers’ rights. In your Bill, the Commissioner shall ensure that employees in the Internal Revenue are familiar with the laws, in accord with the taxpayers' rights (Burman &Slemrod, 2013). Those rights include; the right to be informed, the right to service, the right to pay not more than the correct amount, and the right to challenge the position of the Internal Revenue Service, and heard.
It is only your empathy and much concern that you take that motion to the House of Representatives for discussion, after listening to your people. The tax-payers who are the common citizens of the United States have suffered for a long time of unfair and oppressive taxation code. The progressive tax system and federal income taxes demoralizes the people since the lose much of their income in the name of paying taxes. The taxpayers also need to be informed when there are changes in tax rates and be consulted prior implementation.
The Bill that you took to the House shows us your deeds and not just words. The people will appreciate it when the president will assent it into law. I therefore, write to you to support your move.
