The story of Milonguita, is a story of rising from nothing. On the surface, Milonguita is like a social butterfly, being attractive and flirty and possibly dangerous. But after a deep search, la Milonguita is a woman how comes from the suburban of the city, which she left when she decided to come to the metropolis in order to escape fringe existence and poverty. She got a job in a cabaret and fell for a man. “Compadrito” her man, is left behind and he emerged as a voice to cry his losses or get his revenge. Milonguita is seen as a prodigal duather of a sad opportunist, who left good families values and true love behind and now is incapable to find fulfillment. Since the poets of that time were almost entirely men, the beautiful character of Milonguita was always portrayed from a male prejudice.
Compared with La Morocha, which is translated “The Brunette” another girl from suburbans, Milonguita appear to be a failure in the eyes of men. La Morocha is considered to be the first tango that crossed the Atlantic. The difference between la Milonguita and La Morocha is that La Morocha is represented by a sentimental woman, portrayed by that time to be the ideal woman. La Morocha never leaves the suburban, leaving on the world that is still drive by the innocence and natural instincts, beying always ready to serve the countryman. La Morocha is considered to be the predecessor of la Milonguita.
Malena is a final fusion of Milonguita and La Morocha is a cabaret singer who is above the reproach of a male speaker and she is responsible for what she gives. Compared to Milonguita, the difference is that Malena is doesn’t speaks about her past, serving only to characterize her immense presence. Another huge difference is that Malena has a voice- figuratively and literally. A lot of women still identify with Malena because she is an image of creative and artistic power, which bear their wounds and put them into songs victoriously.
