In the modern world, new inventions don’t create such exaltation and interest as, for example, one hundred years ago. This phenomenon can be easily explained by the impetuous progress in the era of technology. A lot of today’s devices and apparatuses seem to be usual for people who cannot imagine their lives without these creature comforts, though the situation wasn’t the same all the time.
One of such inventions was an automobile. Of course, there existed the other vehicles before the invention of an automobile. However, the kinds of carriers were represented not so widely. To transport various goods, people used horsed carts; and ancestors of modern automobiles were coaches, phaetons, landaus and stage-coaches, also horsed. Passengers, of those times, utilized it and were fully satisfied with what they had, because nothing different was not invented and there existed no possibility to compare.
The first prototype of the modern car was the steam powered automobile able to transport passengers and engineered by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot in 1769. 1886 witnessed the invention of the first petrol powered automobile, called Benz-Patent-Motorwagen and designed by German car engineer Karl Benz.
Nowadays, the production of cars is very developed; and automobiles from the luxury product, which it was thought out to be at the beginning of the XX century, turned out into a must-have nearly for everyone. The usage of cars gradually changed lives of people; first of all, the invention of an automobile made it easier and more comfortable. Now, it is simple to overcome big distances for less time span than earlier; the second main advantage of a modern automobile, in comparison with a carriage or first designed cars, is the fact, due to the high technological standards used while manufacturing automobiles, that being inside a car is like being in tiny house with all conveniences.
