The first anti-Zionist speeches in Palestine began on February 27, 1920 after reporting on the approval of the Balfour Declaration as the basis for the creation of a "Jewish national home". On April 4-6 in Jerusalem and the Galilee have passed riots and pogroms.
The next series of attacks on Jews took place at the end of August 1929 because of the conflict on the issue of access to the Western Wall. About 133 Jews and 116 Arabs were killed during the riots. The main victims of those pogroms were not the representatives of the secular Zionist youth, but extremely religious little Jewish communities of Hebron, Safed, Jerusalem, Gaza and other cities, that lived side by side with their Arab neighbors for centuries, peacefully praying near their holy places, and never took up arms (Hollander, 2009).
The peak of the pre-war violence was the so-called Arab Revolt during the 1936-1939 period. Despite the additional aid of 20 000 British soldiers revolt lasted more than two and a half years, during which were killed more than 5,000 Arabs, about 400 Jews and 200 Britons, about 15,000 Arabs were wounded. That revolt did not reach its goals, but modern Arab-Palestinian historians argue that it was the "Birth of the Palestinian Arab identity." Suppression of the revolt by the Britons and the expulsion of the Palestinian Arabs elite beyond the mandate extremely weakened Palestinian Arab society.
Overall, researching and analyzing the events that were happening during the British Mandate for Palestine, I came up to definite conclusion – the main reason for those massive problems between both sides were the actions of Jews that started from repatriation and the acquisition of lands. The following contractions by the Palestinians are quite understandable for me because their life started changing dramatically when the population of Jews grew more and more and they began setting up their own rules of social arrangement. The British commission also made such conclusions in 1930 (Simpson, 1930). On the other hand, I do not think that the actions of Israel after the independence we can entitle as the state-sponsored terrorism because now they really defend themselves from the enemies, but before the independence, I estimate their actions as aggressive and illegal with some features of terrorism.
