The Blackwater Chronicles is a book by John P. Kennedy on the adventure of five gentlemen to the land of Canaan, Randolf County. The book explains the different experiences these people underwent through while in their expedition. The author explains the different scenarios they are in together with beautiful scenery of the jungle, full of animals and beautiful geography. Generally, the book features elements of an informative perspective, explaining in detail the different events.
The book gives an overview of the geography of the region they were going for the expedition. The reader is able to draw the picture of what the area looks like at the back of the mind. The author clearly explains the position of the Blackwater stream, Cheat River and the junction of the Dry-fork, Laurel fork and the Glade fork (Kennedy 5). The author also shows how the cheat river flows into the rugged mountains of Virginia (Kennedy 5). The information is able to show the reader how the area really looked like.
On the return from the expedition, the author explains how they were stuck at Conway’s for a whole day. The reason to this was that their horses had gone back because they had not secured the bars (Kennedy 209). The author also explains in detail how the place looked like. The explanation starts with the frail nature of the fencing. The rhododendron fencing in the place was weak and unable to stop the horses from escaping (Kennedy 209). The author also stresses on the point by explaining that they had come through the fence.
