The First Five Weeks Essay Examples

Starting a college is the beginning of another phase of life. The college norms, rules and regulations are different from that of high school. Students are excited and nervous at the same time for joining the college for the first time. Likewise, I was very nervous and excited for the college. The enthusiasm of my admission to the college for my parents was more than me. They desired to see me as a successful student and person in the life ahead. Keeping their desires in mind, I have started college. It has been more than five weeks now as a college student. From the very beginning, I made the schedule for my studies at the college and tried to make friends with the seniors in order to seek guidance from them. The first week get engaged in completing the remaining formalities of the college. The classes had commenced from the second week regularly. I have been punctual and attentive in all the classes so far which were appreciated by the teachers. The appreciation has encouraged me more and inclined me more towards the studies. The most amazing thing which I found in the college during these weeks was the different short courses offered by the college which are not the part of academics. The thrilling moment was to find the photography among the courses. I have a keen interest in photography but as I did not want it to study professionally, I have not taken admission to Photography College.
The college keeps on providing unexpected moments to me every now and then. I have always found strict and reserved teachers in my life, therefore, I have expected the same from the college. Conversely, teachers here turn out to be very friendly. They teach in a friendly environment and welcome the students to ask for any kind of extra help. Moreover, I ever expected for the head of the college staff to visit each class daily for few minutes and indulge in a healthy conversation with the students. This action made the students very comfortable at the college, and the students can convey the message regarding any amendments or changes which they needed to bring about in the college. Consequently, I was surprised when one of the student’s suggestions was imposed. The suggestion was to arrange a tour of a foreign place after the mid-term tests. This was accepted by the head of staff without any frown on his head. This came as a big unexpected element of the college.
On the contrary, one thing during the last week annoyed me much. The football tournament was about to get commenced. The teams were formed by selecting the students who were the good players. I was very good at playing football in the high school. Therefore, I was sure to get selected but I was rejected after the test. This really upset me as I wanted to be a part of the football team. Furthermore, I had expected to make friends quickly among my classmates as I am very friendly by nature. Converse to my expectations, I still do not have any good friends. Either they are too reserved or else I m very differently from them which is becoming an obstacle to starting a friendship. The absence of friends has left me alone in the college. Subsequently, I approach the teachers for any sort of help. However, friends are important because they make the life of the college interesting. Till now I have no close friends but I hope to make some very soon.
