In the corporate world, organizations need an effective human capital management. The human capital is significant in the increasing trend in the global market. The human capital has the direct influence on the performance of the employees and the entire organizations. The organizations view the performance of the employees and the leaders through innovations and practices. This study looks at the immense business success of Starbucks in Malaysia, starting from its first store opening in Kuala Lumpur, back in 1998, until reaching the milestone of 190 chain stores in 2015. After 16 years in Malaysian market, Starbucks values productivity through outstanding performance and up-to-date human resource management (Starbucks, 2015). "We will continue to build the Starbucks brand in Malaysia holistically, evaluating ways to expand across new channels like grocery and convenience stores, all while staying true to our core values of investing in our people and in the communities we serve," said Culver (Newsroom, 2015).

Critical Review of Human Resources on Performance within Starbucks in Malaysia

Currently, in the global market, every company has competitors regardless of the industry. In the development of competitive advantages, it is necessary that the organization have the true influence on the workplace with strong competitive strategies. Many organizations search for optimization in the workforce through an all-inclusive human capital development approaches. The organizations invest efficient resources to guarantee that the employees can obtain the competitive knowledge, competencies, and skills they need in the workplace with rapid changes and environmental complexity. To address to the competitive changing corporate world, most organizations embrace the concept of human capital. However, the organizations need to understand thoroughly the trend of human capital development. .
Starbucks in Malaysia is distinguished by their talented partners as employees, who annually receive comprehensive training thorough development programs to boost performance (Starbucks, 2015). The store features partners who are proud food service professionals, and many of them are passionate college students. Their ultimate vision is great quality customer service and premium quality coffee that inspires them to become a strong family and build long-lasting careers at Starbucks.

Importance of Human Resource Management

The human resource, also known as human capital, comprises a set of productive individuals who perform as the workforce in the organization. As recognized by every organization, human capital is a strategic value of the human asset; a collective value of the employees at work. The human capitals are not simply the workers of the organization, they are the people who bring and contribute to the success of the entire organization. In addition, the human capitals are the collective value of the life experience, ability, skills, knowledge, and motivation of the whole workforce.
The individuals and the organizations are the major components of the human capital. The human capital includes flexibility, adaptability, enhancement of individual and organizational competencies, and employability. The attributes of the human capital demonstrate value to everyone in the organization and its success. The commitment and enhancement of the employees are associated with the high-performance sustainability in the workplace. Fundamentally, the human capital focuses on the employees and the organizations’ performance.
The commitment of all the involved partners is a major reason why Starbucks is the industry benchmark in Malaysia. The realization of ideas in Starbucks Malaysia is best shown by the new drive-thru concept stores. This new platform, introduced exclusively by its partners, gives customers the freedom to enjoy their coffee on the go or at the store in a peaceful and relaxed manner.

Conclusion

The knowledge and skills of the employees contribute significant advantages and are associated with proper motivation. The human resource plays a vital part in the development of the organization with its fast-changing competitive environment and the demands in the market for employees’ quality performances. The study shows that the partners as human capital is recognized as the most knowledgeable in the coffee industry, and to illustrate the given example, ongoing learning opportunities through Coffee Master certification program and the hosting of Coffee Ambassador Cup are provided on a regular basis. These learning programs help strengthen the employee expertise through frequent seminars and presentations, available at Starbucks Malaysia stores and locations.Recommendation
The business world is very challenging and keeps on changing, especially in terms of technological advances and the way how people prefer to work, therefore, in order to encourage companies to be proactive in making the best business decisions for their employees, Human Resource Management should be equally flexible and adaptable for the current and future undertakings. The reason is that a good company practice devotes lots of attention to Human Resource Management, since it involves many advantages, for example, their employees are more engaged and committed to their job, if they are motivated by the management style of the organization. More importantly, productivity can be increased and, finally, the company will be able to meet the mission and vision they want to achieve by the organization.
