The Significance of Training and Development in Business Organizations

The primary aim of this project is to establish the significance of training and development in the context of business organizations. This is a progress report on the project and the details of the project over the time period of four months, from October 2015 to January 2016. The events will be outlined in chronological order, as they were undertaken.

Introduction

The importance of training and development is critical to the progression of an organization. The areas of impact of training and development include the employee’s performance, the workers weaknesses, consistency in performance, reduction in costs, and reductions in necessary supervision. As such, it is paramount to investigate the empirical significance of training and development in business organizations.

November – December 2015

Data Identification
The data used for this project was identified and sought from the different organizations with different approaches to training and development. The approaches taken by the organizations used in this project ranged from the organizations that placed emphasis on constant training and development of their personnel to the organizations that had little or no concern for their employees training and development. The data collection method was survey research where questionnaires were distributed to randomly chosen employees of the organizations participating the study.

Writing of Literature Review

There has been various works and research conducted to investigate the impact of training and development in business organizations, and these works were critical in the preparation of the literature review. The preparation of literature review relied heavily on peer-reviewed academic and journal articles due to the rigorous and high standards associated with such works. Nonetheless, other sources including books and online works were also used to supplement the literature review of the project. This section was crucial to the preparation of the project as it allowed me to have an insight as to the expected results and the reasons for different results that could be obtained by the project.

Analysis, Corroboration and Interpretation of Data

The data obtained from the different organizations was analyzed carefully to develop a clear understanding of the significance of training and development in business organizations. This was especially important in discovering the actual impact of the level and emphasis of training on business aspects such as employee’s performance, the workers weaknesses, consistency in performance, reduction in costs, and reductions in necessary supervision. The data was then interpreted according to the results obtained. The interpretation is presented in the project report for analysis and critique and simply indicated that the organizations with a greater emphasis on training and development of their personnel had a greater levels of production as success in the areas listed above. This was in concurrence with the expected results and was corroborated by the findings of other studies that were presented in the literature review.
The project was completed on 5th January 2016 and submitted. Nevertheless, several challenges arose in the preparation of the project that deserves mention: The data identification and collection posed the greatest challenge in convincing organizations to participate in the study despite any misgiving that they had. In conclusion, despite the challenges faced the project was successful completed and offered an insight into the impact and significance of training and development in business organizations.
