What Is The Relationship Between Drug Use AND Delinquency? Article Review Sample

There is a vast variety of drug types all over the world, which are considered to be both licit and illicit. The most notorious legal drugs are alcohol and nicotine, which are allowed from the age of 21 and 18 respectively. What about the illicit drugs, the most popular are methamphetamine, sedatives, inhalants, marijuana, cocaine, stimulants, heroin, and some other that produce a destructive effect on a human body (Bartollas and Miller, 2014). Despite the fact, that licit drugs are not so harmful in comparison with the illicit drugs, they can lead to some inevitable results, especially for the juveniles, as they may get bored with the effect these drugs give and may long for a stronger one.
According to some scientific research, it has been proved that the drug use and delinquency are absolutely bound. What is more, “delinquency is more likely to precede the drug use” (Bartolllas and Miller, 2014). However, there are cases, when the use of drug precedes delinquency, as the person requires some money for the next dose. There are some factors, which can lead to such fatal consequences: some pre-born health issues, family and social environment, lack of motivation, academic failure, early anti-social behavior (Bartollas and Miller, 2014). It has been proved by the researches that the more of these factors juveniles possess, the more likely they are to be involved in the criminal life and the drug use. One more important reason, which unites the use of drugs and offence is the so called drug tracking. A vast percentage of people, who are into such a business are young people, who are either addicts and cannot lives without drugs, or people that are captured with the amount of money they can earn by selling drugs.
In order to solve this problem and to decrease the percentage of the addicts or simply those, who use drugs, as well as the percentage of criminal cases, there are some effective means, like prevention and treatment programs, strict enforcement, drug courts, juvenile justice videos, and some other (Bartollas and Miller, 2014). However, in most cases, these means are too expensive, and only high costs of relatives or the state, and the health insurance can help to deal with the problem.
