Moreover, if the couple lacks anything such a food, or shelter, the entire society will come through for them to ensure that their marriage does not suffer because of lack of anything. The community elders and religious elders are also usually readily available to offer guidance and advice to the married couples in case there is a need for it (Krishnan, 47).
Arranged marriages are usually based on mutual understanding, trust and integrity rather that physical appearance and love at first sight in the case of love marriages, therefore, in arranged marriage, mutual respect and commitment, which the most important ingredient in any marriage. Besides in an arranged marriage, the couple does not have to blame each other in case of a misunderstanding, Instead, they have every right to point fingers at their parents who parents who brought together. This allows the entire family to come in and help find a solution to such misunderstandings. It also helps ensure that the married couple does not have any reason to blame each there; hence peace and understanding in the marriage (Nagaswam, 67).
Most communities that practice arranged marriages believe hat one only has to marry a person from the social status as they are in and religion. For instance, in the Muslim society, a Muslim man is only allowed to marry a woman from a Muslim society. This reduces instances of conflicts based on beliefs and religious factors. When a couple has the same religious beliefs, they tend to get along well because they are guided by the same values. Additionally, Matching a girl and a boy from the same social class, also fosters respect and peace. For instance, in the Indial society, rich boys are married off to rich girls. This ensures that the family of the man respects the family of the girls and also the girl’s family also respects the family of the man (Mallery, 112).
Nonetheless, not all people agree with the arranged marriages. As a matter of facts some people believe that arranged marriages take away the freedom of people to choose partners of their choice. People argue that at the age of eighteen and above, people are usually old enough to make good choices, therefore, these people should be accorded the right to choose their own spouses. They believe that it is not fair for the society or parents to choose for you some one that you are supposed to spend the rest of your life with. Moreover, this group of people believes that love that Love is the major factor upon which marriage is based (Beverley, 56). Therefore, a boy is supposed to choose a girl that he feels that the love most. Besides, when parents choose for their child a spouse, the boy or the girl will feel obligated to stay in that marriage in order to not disappoint their parents. The couple may also pretend to be happy in the marriage for the sake of their families because they may not want to bring shame to their families. Arrange marriages based on social status in the society limit people from choosing from a wide range of spouses out there. Such marriages are usually suffocating to the couple, especially if they do not get along well. However, the rich children may stay in the marriage in order to keep their family names and pride (Nagaswam, 67).
