The article elaborates several reasons that have facilitated the increasing rate at which messaging apps are utilized currently. Additionally, the existence of social media channels such as instagram, which enables users to share pictures, is another reason that has facilitated the increased use of messaging app. On the other hand, the author posits that the current generation prefers using messaging apps as compared to the use of emails and text messages due to their ease of use and affordability.
Messaging apps are also currently applied by manufacturing companies to undertake e-commerce activities. One of the companies that have succeeded by using messaging app as a platform to sell its products is Xiaomi. This is a Chinese major Smartphone company that successfully sold over 150, 000 phones in 10 minutes through WeChat (www.nytimes.com). Additionally, the article gives an example of one of the companies that has benefited from using messaging app as a means of sale, the Tencent. This company made a sales profit of $420 million in 2013, an indication of how successful e-commerce through messaging app has been successful.
Consequently, the increasing trend of using mobile app as indicated in the article has been attributed to a change of attitude among current consumers. The article asserts that the current generation has accepted the rapid shift from internet to mobile phones and is currently willing to try new modes of communication.
