Duties of a Health Financing Advisor (HFA)
A health financing advisor performs the following functions. First, developing and, promoting economic tools that analyze issues affecting the healthcare sector. The HFA also provides technical and expertise advice to member nations of the World Health Organization especially on health institutions capacity to utilize health finances and promoting efficiency in use of resources. The HFC also analyzes and, suggests alternative health sector financing policies that improve health care sector of member states. The HFC also advises other United Nation agencies on matters pertaining to health care financing. Other roles include participating in the implementation of Healthcare programs developed by WHO or other organizations mandated by the WHO, updating WHO databases and, mobilizing resources for the support of WHO programs.
Global Health Data Exchange (GHDX)
The Global Health Data Exchange is a data catalog that was developed and launched by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in 2011. The main purpose of developing this catalog was to address a global problem of lack of health care information. The GHDX is the only database that manages health-related information on a global platform. Its aims are to allow for easy access to global health information, and, integrate data from other data producers such as health ministries, health companies and, national statistical bureaus.
The world Health Summit, GHDx and, WHO are entities involved in the world Health. Although each entity has independent roles, they collectively help in promoting a healthy global society. They help in preventing the spread of diseases through providing financial resources for the research of medical issues. These organizations also monitor progresses in global health sector to ensure people get the right health care.
Types of Healthcare Technologies
Electronic Health Records (HER): This technology maintains health information of patients.
E-prescribing- This technology allows for communication between medical practitioners.
Personal Health Records- Similar to EHRs but this technology gives the user the power to control the type of information that goes into the system.
Computerized Provider (Physician) Order Entry (CPOE) - This technology helps in minimizing medical errors.
GPS patches- this technology helps in monitoring disabled people.
